Drill seed at 3/4" to 1" depth or broadcast and lightly incorporate when soil temperatures are 40 degrees or higher.
For best results, plant 4-6 weeks before the first average frost date during the fall. Planting can continue even through the first few frosts but the mix will likely not grow much in the fall and spring growth will be only from the most winter hardy species in the mix, likely rye, peas, and vetch.
Fall Cattle Builder has a minimum germination temp of 40 °F. Reference your average soil temperature to determine ideal planting time.
