The Garden Winter Survivor mix is designed to keep a living root in the soil over the winter months to maximize soil health benefits. The mix is also really great for suppressing early spring weeds that will struggle to germinate in the presence of a vigorous cover crop.  Cold-hardy, nitrogen-fixing legumes such as hairy vetch, winter peas, balansa clover, and winter lentils provide organic nitrogen in the spring. Cereal rye and soft red winter wheat deliver massive root growth and living mulch for weed suppression.
