  • Annual Ryegrass (Centurion) - Diploid

    Annual Ryegrass (Centurion) - Diploid

Extending the grazing season while protecting and building the soil is a great benefit of this species. The biomass N content can range from 1.3-2.4% and varies depending on the amount of residual N left from the previous crop. Reports of annual ryegrass having the potential to scavenge up to 200 lbs of residual N/A/yr have been recorded. Ryegrass can be very successfully broadcast into established row crops. Winter killed ryegrass can still provide weed suppression, soil protection and trap residual N until spring. Ryegrass attracts very few pest insects that could pester the next crop. With lower needed seeding rates per acre you will spend less on freight and your applicator can remain in the drill or in the air longer. Annual ryegrass has deep roots, but when considering it for more northern areas, it must be established prior to hard freezing in order to have the best chance of winter survival.

Note: This product is certified organic. Rapid fall growth in short windows, allows radishes to fit perfectly into a traditional corn and soybean rotation. Radish residue breaks down very quickly in the spring, leaving a clean seed bed until early April. The residue has been proven to inhibit small seeded annuals from germinating. Nutrients that were scavenged are readily released back into the soil for the subsequent crop. A field planted in radishes, will allow the soil to dry and warm faster in the spring. The large root channel left behind is rich in nutrients, allows tremendous water infiltration, reduces water erosion, and a path for crops roots to follow through compacted soil layers. During decomposition, radish biofumigates the soil which can reduce pest and nematode populations.

    Overwintering Mix

Free Shipping on all Green Cover products on SeedTime. Green Cover's Overwintering Mix is a multi-species cover crop mix designed to be planted in the fall and overwinter, providing ground cover and a living root throughout the cold winter months. Hairy Vetch, Fixation Balansa Clover and Wyoming Winter Peas are some of the most cold-hearty legumes that will provide organic nitrogen in the spring. Elbon Cereal Rye, Winter Barley, and Black Oats provide a carbon source and massive root growth.  Rapeseed is a great forage if you want to graze this mix, but it also provides a great taproot for breaking compacted soils. Crimping or mowing this mix will give you a mulch perfect for transplanting into in the spring. This mix can also be tilled into the soil as a green manure. Not sure where to start? Check out our Quick Start Guide on Cover Crops in the Garden. Ingredients Balansa Clover, Winter Peas, Cereal Rye, Winter Barley, Black Oats, Rapeseed, Hairy Vetch, Elevate'd Fungi Inoculant, and RhizoBac X-Tend Inoculant Though these seeds are not sourced from organic production, our seeds are non-GMO and not treated with pesticides. All inoculants are manufactured to organic standard. Planting  Broadcast and lightly incorporate 4-6 weeks before first frost. Minimum Germination Temperature: 40 °FBroadcast Seeding Rate: 2 lbs/1000 square feet (90 lbs per acre) Timing For best results, plant 4-6 weeks before the first average frost date during the fall. Planting can continue even through the first few frosts but the mix will likely not grow much in the fall and spring growth will be only from the most winter hardy species in the mix, likely rye, barley, and vetch. Termination For no-till applications, we recommend terminating Overwintering mix by crimping or mowing with a flail mower followed by a tarp for 2 weeks before your desired planting date. The cereal grains will crimp better when they are mature. When rye is shedding its pollen, it is ready for crimping. However, if you can't wait to plant, crimping can still be successful even when the plant is not yet mature if it is followed with a tarp to ensure that it is effectively terminated. Overwintering mix can also be terminated by tilling and incorporating as a green manure. Where the context allows, grazing can be effective at terminating overwintering mix if it is followed by a silage tarp. On a very small scale, cutting with a hand sickle or turning the soil over with a shovel and following with a tarp can also be effective. • Sorghum Sudan (SolarMaxx PPS)

    Sorghum Sudan (SolarMaxx PPS)

SolarMaxx is a photoperiod sensitive sorghum sudangrass designed to be used in both diverse cover crop mixes as well as for forage production. The photoperiod sensitivity is an increased benefit to anyone who wants to have a full season plant with multi harvest possibilities. Photoperiod sensitivity means that the plant will not go reproductive until the daytime hours get to 12 hours and 20 minutes. The flexibility of these genetics gives the producer time to either react to making a harvest, or allow time for moisture to come and allow the plant to grow again. Since seedhead emergence is so late the threat of volunteer seed is little to none.

  • Spring Oats (Everleaf Falcon) - Certified

Spring Oats (Everleaf Falcon) - Certified

Everleaf Falcon spring oats are an improved variety of oats. Delayed heading and improved leaf density make this an excellent option for forage. These oats resist lodging, produce excellent tonnage, and provide high quality forage. The seeds are much darker than most oat varieties, maturing as a medium to dark brown seed. Everleaf Falcon oats should be used for grazing or any type of harvested forage.

  • Spring Oats (Rushmore) Spring Oats (Rushmore)

    Spring Oats (Rushmore)

Spring oats are an excellent choice for quick ground cover in the spring or fall. Rapid growth aids in stabilizing disturbed or bare soil from environmental conditions. Spring oats make a great addition to any spring grazing or forage mix providing ample tonnage for your livestock. Oats can be easily chemically terminated and fall plantings commonly winterkill. Residue from oats suppress winter annuals and protect the soil throughout the winter and will decompose rapidly in the spring. Allelopathic chemicals released by the decomposing residue suppress weed germination for a few weeks. The high quality oat forage is more palatable than rye or wheat. Also, oat is less prone to insect problems than either wheat or barley.

    Summer Release

Green Cover’s Summer Release warm-season annual blend has been a reliable choice for years, consistently yielding high-quality forage when planted and managed appropriately. This blend features a variety of annual forage species, including legumes, forbs, and grains. Thanks to years of experience and valuable user feedback, we've fine-tuned the blend for 2025, making it the most effective summer forage crop to date! Below, you’ll find specific planting instructions and guidelines. This is not just another product adorned with flashy graphics; it's a proven summer forage blend that thrives across much of the whitetail deer’s habitat. Some species in this blend are preferred by deer as soon as they germinate, while others take a bit longer to attract them. This “timed-release” approach, which combines different forage species, significantly enhances the production of quality forage, attracts deer more effectively, and helps suppress weeds compared to planting a single species. This product is pre-inoculated with the Green Boost 2.0 Biology Package, so you can reduce your fertilizer usage. Green Boost 2.0 includes: MycoGreen NPK is a dual inoculant containing ten functionally diverse mycorrhizal fungi and eight bacterial species. Elevate'd Fungi is a seed applied inoculant derived from natural products designed to stimulate seed germination, increase root and biological biomass in the soil, and improve soil structure.  RhizoBac X-Tend features high concentrations of multi-species nitrogen fixing rhizobia for peas, vetch, cowpeas, sunn hemp and soybeans. Additionally, free living nitrogen fixing and phosphorus solubilizing bacteria combine for a robust broad spectrum seed treatment for your cover crops.  Healthier and more vigorous plants will lead to healthier animals and bigger antlers! • Super Summer Release

    Super Summer Release

Got more deer than ability to produce quality forage? I do!  I am Grant Woods and this is a blend I crafted in collaboration with Green Cover Seed.  This blend was field-tested in South Carolina, Texas, Alabama, Mississippi, Kansas, and more.  Through years of observations at my place (The Proving Grounds) and at several of my friends’ properties throughout much of the whitetail’s range, the blend is the best warm season food plot crop I’ve planted or seen during my 34 years as a professional wildlife biologist and I’m happy to make it available to you.   Superior Forage Production: This blend is intentionally designed to keep up with heavy browse pressure while still maintaining a thick cover to suppress weeds and be drought resistant. Years of experimenting with dozens of warm-season species in different combinations in diverse soils led to a mix that's resilient and productive. Regenerates Quickly: Thanks to its unique formulation, Super Summer quickly regenerates, maintaining a vibrant, healthy plot throughout the summer season. Weed Suppression: Produces dense stands of forage that outcompetes weeds, reducing the need for herbicides and promoting a healthier ecosystem for your deer. Diverse & Palatable: Includes a variety of leaf shapes, plant heights, and timing of palatability.  Because of the species diversity and how the plants interact in this blend, it’s suitable for a wide range of soil types and conditions. Pro Tip: To attract and feed deer throughout the year, drill or broadcast the Super Summer Release blend during the late spring followed by the Super Fall Release blend in late summer.
